Elisabeth Mouge

With a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Quebec at Montreal (specializing in cellular and molecular biology), Elisabeth is currently pursuing a master's degree in biology. Having always loved observing the world around her, she has developed a deep fascination for the living world — a fascination that has now become a true scientific vocation.

This curiosity naturally led her first to horticulture, then to the study of plant sciences. She continued her university studies in ecology, then in biology, where she discovered an unexpected interest in cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and animal physiology. Since then, she has been particularly interested in the biosynthesis and metabolism of natural compounds, seeking to understand how certain molecules are produced, what their functions are, and what factors can disrupt their production.

She thus carries out her master's project in the laboratory of Professor Yusmaris Cariaco, in co-supervision with Professor Maikel Rosabal, on the impact of environmental metals (cadmium, mercury and lead) on placental metabolic networks, steroid hormone biosynthesis, and trophoblast endocrine function in order to characterize, by multi-omics approaches, the molecular signatures associated with these exposures.
